Of The Organization

The Tartu Family Radio Corporation is an independent ecumenical organization, consisting of legal and natural persons. Today the membership of the Tartu Family Radio Corporation is composed of 7 natural persons, who are all members of the board. The meetings of the board are held as necessitated by the need and the emerged problems but not less than four times per year.

The financial assets of the Tartu Family Radio are created through donations, sponsor sums, entrance and membership fees, special assignments, and income from paid services towards the statutory goals and activities of the corporation. At present approximately two thirds of the budget of the Tartu Family Radio Corporation is covered by the foreign partners and one third is covered by donations from the listeners. Notable is the financial support from the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Union of Evangelical Christian and Baptist Congregations of Estonia.

The Tartu Family Radio produces two programs: "A Christian Family Radio" and "Semeinoje Radio". The aim of these programs is to improve moral standards and develop ethical convictions at the levels of an individual, a family, and the Estonian nation and its independent statehood. High moral standards and a strong family, in their turn, serve as a foundation for a democratic and viable society as a whole.

The Tartu Family Radio, 24 hours a day with Estonian broadcastings, is on the air at 89,0 MHz in the counties of Tartu, Põlva, Viljandi and Järva, at 95,7 MHz in the county of Võru, at 88,7 MHz in the county of Valga, at 88,9 MHz in the county of West Viru and at 88,2 MHz in the county of East Viru. Russian broadcastings are on the air at 1035 KHz. The latter embraces regionally a big part from European side of Russia, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Lithuania and Latvia. The program embraces a wide range of topics -- from the personal problems of an individual to circumstances and predicaments in the entire society. It is targeted at different age and social groups. The nature of most broadcasts is that of popular science and general education. The music is mostly soothing and stress-alleviating. We broadcast programs concerning family, health, nature, rural life, children, youth, music, etc. As compared to commercial radio stations the Tartu Family Radio has evolved into a real alternative to the endless entertainment as well as a means of moral rehabilitation for the people who are elderly, sick, or overwhelmed by life problems.
